Inisbofin Poetry Collection

Illustrations from a collection of writing by various authors. The works in the collection were written on the island of Inisbofin off the west coast of Ireland. The contributors were inspired by the raw beauty of the landscape and the atmosphere on the island. The launch of the book (which I designed) was on Inisbofin in September.

Some early drawings from a project I'm working on. You may have noticed by now that I'm fond of working in black and white. (Or in this case, grey and white)

Blind Drawings

Blind drawings of friends made over a few nights out.

Saturday, October 10, 2009

The first drawings I made for an illustrated anthology of poetry. The works were inspired by the island of Inisbofin off the west coast of Ireland. More to follow.

Humanimals

A series of illustrations I made while working with Conor & David. The brief was to show the animal characteristics that exist in human personality types.

Short Short Stories

Illustrations inspired by Dave Eggers' series of "Short short stories" published in the Guardian on Saturdays. I took a small selection of these and made a typeset, illustrated and hand-bound book.

Drawings from a book I made about the "tribes" of cyclists in Dublin. The brief was to create an unconventional guidebook. I gave an impression of the city through the favourite haunts and meeting places of these various groups.

More golden oldies, this time from my drawing on coloured paper phase.

Some from the archives. These are illustrations I made a few years ago for a children's book about an enchanted garden.

Welcome

Hi, I'm James. I hope you like my drawings.
